This afternoon, on Saturday, September 20, 2025,
I was struck with the grievous and heart-wrenching news of the sudden passing
away of my paternal first cousin’s son, Colonel Syed Javaid Hussain,
in Rawalpindi. Words fail to capture the shock and sorrow this news has brought
to our entire family.
As per the initial information reaching us,
Colonel Javaid had gone for his routine morning walk alone when fate intervened
in a most unexpected manner. He was found lying unconscious by a passerby who,
with a gesture of humanity, searched his mobile phone and located one of his
children’s contact numbers. Through this, the tragic development was
immediately conveyed to his household. Despite all possible efforts, his
condition could not be reversed, and Allah’s will was fulfilled.
At about 1915 hours this evening, my son in
Rawalpindi confirmed the heartbreaking reality to me. He further informed that
the mortal remains of the departed have been preliminarily shifted to Nagar
House, Rawalpindi, where arrangements and ceremonial proceedings prior
to burial are being performed. It has also been conveyed that the body shall be
transported to Gilgit by road without delay, and, God willing, is expected to
arrive by tomorrow morning for the final rites and interment in the ancestral
graveyard of the family in Gilgit at 10 am.
The life of Colonel Syed Javaid Hussain
is a narrative of discipline, dedication, and service. His educational journey
began at the esteemed Military College, Jhelum, where he
imbibed the values of hard work, leadership, and patriotism. Following his
induction into the Pakistan Army, he joined the Corps of Engineers
and pursued further professional studies in civil engineering
as part of his cadet training at Risalpur. His subsequent career in the Pakistan Army was
marked by diligence, responsibility, and unwavering commitment. He rose to the
rank of Colonel, serving with distinction until his
retirement. His professional journey stands as a testimony to his sense of duty
and devotion to the country.
Beyond the uniform and the titles, Colonel Javaid
will be remembered as a man of grace, humility, and quiet strength. To his
family and friends, he was more than a military officer—he was a source of
guidance, a figure of affection, and a person whose sincerity and warmth left a
lasting impression on all who interacted with him. His sudden departure has
left a deep void, one that will be felt not only within the family but also
among the circle of friends and acquaintances who held him in high regard.
The grief of losing him is profound and the void,
immeasurable. Yet, as believers, we submit to the Divine Will of Allah
Almighty, who is the ultimate disposer of affairs. May Allah, in His infinite
mercy, grant Colonel Syed Javaid Hussain eternal peace,
elevate his station in Jannat-ul-Firdaus, and accept his life’s efforts and
service as deeds of value in His court. May the Almighty also bestow upon his
bereaved family, relatives, and friends the strength, patience, and
fortitude required to endure this immense and irreparable loss with
dignity and faith.
Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un
– Surely, to Allah we belong and to Him shall we return.
